You remember it don’t you?  Mom and daughter, beautiful and singing to us about Grandpas, love and girlfriends.  In fact this was the first album I ever owned:

I imagined a mother daughter relationship like no other.  I thought, “Man, they are so close.”  I even tried to teach my mom to sing harmony.  (You did great mom!).  I also went to a Judds concert, thanks mom and dad!

All of this has been shattered by the new reality show The Judds on the OWN network.  Apparently Naomi (mama Judd) has some deep dark demons and had taken stage mom to a whole other level.  Wynonna did not have an easy childhood either.  The two of them together is a recipe for drama.

However, the beauty of the show is that they recognize it is a chance to heal their very broken relationship.  Along with a dedicated staff, friends and a life coach/therapist that travels with them they work hard at truth and love.  If you haven’t ever experienced a mother daughter relationship, it’s tricky.  And they show this beautifully.

I’m impressed at how open Naomi is about her troubled childhood, having been molested by a family member and the cover up she had to live with.  She is also honest about bad decisions she made as a single parent exposing her kids to situations she shouldn’t have. 

All of this makes me love them more.  They seem like real people, not a mother daughter duo who look alike and sing well together. 

Here is some cattiness for ya.  Wynonna is orange.  I’m just sayin she needs to lay off the tanning, it’s terrible.  She is beautiful, no need for all of that!  Also, I hope Naomi is done with plastic surgery, she doesn’t look normal anymore.  I know both of these are byproducts of being famous but someone should say it.

I look forward to seeing each episode as it reveals more and more about who they are.  It’s funny, it’s heartwarming, it’s a train-wreck and it’s everything we love about reality TV. 

Hi everyone!  It’s been a while since my last post.  I wont bore you with, I’ve been busy, can’t seem to find the time to blog…blah blah blah.  However, I’ve been busy ha!

Where to begin!  The Real Housewives have been in full swing.  I have enjoyed the addition of the Miami cast although they are very hard to relate to.  It seems like more than any housewives show, this one has the most potential for shallowness.  There are several instances that seem like the women are only married for money…gasp…I know.  But they are just way more obvious about it on this show.  What I have to keep and mind and so should you is that they are just starting out and I have great hopes that it will get better.

The Real Housewives of the OC  has been great.  It started out with drama between Tamara and Gretchen.  Although for once that I am on Tamara’s side as she tried to let the past go and start again. She attributes some of her bitchiness last season to a failing marriage, and I suppose we need to give her a chance for redemption, although I saw the previews, it doesn’t look pretty.  

These original Housewives are so entertaining and the redeeming quality that almost all of them have is that they make money in their own right.  No need for wealthy husbands here, I think the title Housewife no long applies to most of them.  All except for Alexis, who is a Bible toting, botox injecting wife and mother.  I like her though, she seems to want to do the right thing, I just think she believes that she is better than the other cast members even though she does all the same things they do.  

In the first episode we did not meet the new cast member, but I look forward to seeing what she has to add.

So the word on the street is The Real Housewives of New York will not be premiering until March or April.  Apparently it isn’t as drama filled as Bravo would have liked.  

So, what happens when Housewives get along?   Do they stop being relevant?  I’m clear, I watch these episodes for the drama, duh, but, what are we saying about these ladies when we can’t even start the season because their isn’t enough drama?!  

I guess it would be boring to have a Real Housewife season without the cat-fighting, backbiting and snarkiness we have all come to love.  OH and of course a dream of singing fulfilled through modern technology.  But, I do feel sorry for the cast and for us, I can’t wait to see them again and see what they are up to! 

From the New York Post: Bravo’s Cohen said in a statement: “No conspiracy here, folks. We have an embarrassment of riches with Miami and New York, and I assure you that ‘the Real Housewives of NYC’ will be well worth the wait.”
